Next to Normal is a 2008 American musical. The story focuses on a bipolar-suffered mother due to the death of her infant son. Her illness has effected her hudsband, daughter, pharmapsychologist and other relative characters. The play dramatizes their mental health, lost, afraid and compromise between these characters.

In 2017, our univeristy musical club decided to put on a show by acting some of the plots of this musical for the students. At that time, I was in charge of the subtitles.

This work ‘Next to Normal’ is a stage design proposal: using stain glass to indicate the development of plots, address the emotional change of characters and convey the core of this musical. This circular stained glass work as the core substantial of the entire work will be then installed with a motor, which can make it rotate about this centre point.
