The convenient store in the city park (square version)

Medium: acrylic painting on canvas
Size: 20cm*20cm
Description: In this February, only the local convenient store remained open to serve people while all the massive retailers closed under the lockdown. This painting captured this scene and conveyed the longing of normal life by the subtle lights out of the dark period. In a very experimental way, the painter firstly applied a layer of one-directional scratched gesso to generate a vibrant-touching texture. Right next to the convenient store stood three people’s silhouette staring at the vending machine.
The convenient store in the city park (original version)

Medium: acrylic painting on canvas
Size: 50cm*39.5cm
Description: Back to the basics, the artist recurred this scene in a conventional way. In this work, all the subjects were zoomed up and were painted without losing any details. By doing this, the painter seized every subtle colour generated by lights of the store. The Illumination, the subtle color of lights on the three standers’ silhouettes, and the darkness in the background symbolized the people who were drowning in anxieties during that quarantine condition, while also conveyed warm and hope.
